This one-day course will provide you with basic knowledge of first aid situations relating to your work as an arborist (e.g. life-threatening cuts or impalements) so that you can take life-saving measures in an emergency. This basic course is aimed at participants WITHOUT or with little previous medical knowledge or is designed as a refresher for existing basic knowledge.
A care approach (excerpts) according to the Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) / Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) guidelines is used, which may differ from classic approaches to initial care. The course content is based on the experiences of military and police first responders during operations in crisis areas around the world.
This course is a mix of theoretical content and lots of practice.
Course content:
- Conventional first aid vs. “tactical” emergency medicine
- Challenges with cuts & impalements
- Penetrating trauma vs. blunt trauma
- Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK)
- Tactical patient assessment (MARCH and C-ABCDE)
- Control acute bleeding, Stop the bleeding
- Basic airway management
- First aid measures for resuscitation
- Upper body, head and neck injuries/extremity injuries
